Longvinter Exits Early Access on Steam: PC's Animal Crossing Alternative
After three years of dedicated development, incorporating player feedback, and diligently addressing bugs, Longvinter has triumphantly exited early access on Steam with the launch of version 1.0. The developers have proudly announced this significant milestone, bringing a host of updates designed to refresh the experience for both newcomers and long-time fans alike.
The most notable addition in this update is the introduction of oil rigs scattered across the archipelago. Players can now engage in the exciting process of extracting oil, refining it into fuel, and participating in intense battles against mercenaries from the notorious Longvinter Resource Industries (LRI) who control these vital supply lines. In addition to these new mechanics, the game now features thrilling events such as helicopter crashes that yield valuable tactical gear and an underground arena where players can compete for valuable rewards every hour.
The game world has been enriched with a diverse array of new wildlife, including lynxes, wolves, wolverines, foxes, moose, and goats, all of which can be tamed and used as mounts. The update also introduces a variety of new items to enhance gameplay, such as hats that provide buffs, combat vests, an assortment of weapons, explosives, new kitchen recipes, and interactive objects for building and decorating. These include oil refineries, refrigerators, microwaves, power poles, and turrets. Significant changes have also been made to weapon balance, ensuring a more dynamic and fair combat experience.
Looking ahead, the eagerly anticipated 1.1 update will introduce farming mechanics, a revamped tutorial tailored for beginners, apartment rentals, and shared communities, further expanding the game's social and interactive elements. Additionally, the developers have confirmed that Longvinter will launch on PlayStation in 2026, broadening its reach beyond PC players and inviting a new audience to explore its expansive world.
