Tidepool Games unveils a vibrant pixel-art roguelike for Android, dubbed MageTrain. Fans of Nimble Quest will find its gameplay strikingly familiar, as it borrows heavily from that classic.

What Defines MageTrain?

MageTrain blends Snake-style mechanics with auto-battlers and roguelike elements. You guide a chain of heroes trailing behind you, each attacking independently as you navigate an arena.

Your role involves strategically positioning heroes to avoid collisions with enemies or obstacles. You decide who leads the line and who supports from behind, as their abilities shift based on their position.

At launch, MageTrain features nine unique heroes, one wielding bird-throwing powers. Each hero’s skills vary depending on their role in the lineup.

Explore eight distinct dungeons, battle 28 enemy types, and unlock 30 skills to strengthen your team. Collect gold and power-ups to enhance your journey.

Thanks to its roguelike design, every run offers a fresh experience with branching paths and upgrade choices, challenging you to survive as long as possible.

Its structure echoes games like Slay the Spire or FTL, with no fixed levels or save points. A misstep—crashing or being overrun by foes—means starting anew.
