Marvel Rivals' Season 1: Eternal Night Falls is off to a strong start, exceeding expectations and delighting players. The recently launched season boasts a new concurrent player record on Steam, following a DICE award nomination and a Players' Choice award for top new game on PlayStation in December 2024. This success is fueled by positive player feedback and developer commitment to ongoing content updates.

The introduction of Midnight Features event quests has been particularly well-received. Players appreciate the flexibility of completing these quests across various game modes, including Quick Play, Competitive, and crucially, against AI opponents. This feature offers a less pressured environment for experimenting with new heroes and tackling challenges. The rewards themselves, such as an early glimpse of Blade via a Gallery Card, have also been praised.

Beyond the quests, the enhanced visual presentation of the event quests, showcased via an animated Daily Bugle-style newspaper, has added to the overall experience. While not all quests are currently active, the full rollout is anticipated by January 17th, culminating in a free Thor skin for completionists.

NetEase Games' commitment to player satisfaction is evident in other Season 1 improvements. These include a doubled battle pass skin reward (two instead of one), new maps and game modes, and balance adjustments for a fairer competitive experience. The developers have also confirmed plans to release a new playable hero every six weeks, ensuring a consistent flow of fresh content, although future seasons will feature less content than Season 1's substantial Fantastic Four debut. This dedication to community feedback bodes well for the continued success and growth of Marvel Rivals.
