Marvel Rivals Rank Reset Mid-Season Proves Too Controversial, Prompting Reversal
Marvel Rivals Reverses Controversial Mid-Season Rank Reset

Following significant player backlash, Marvel Rivals has reversed its decision to implement mid-season rank resets. The developer announced the change in Dev Talk 11, a swift response to the negative feedback generated by Dev Talk 10, which initially outlined plans for a four-division rank drop halfway through the season.
The community voiced concerns that such frequent resets (proposed for every 45 days) would be demoralizing, particularly for players actively climbing the ranks. In a complete turnaround, Marvel Rivals confirmed that no mid-season reset will occur. Players will retain their current rank and score from the first half of the season. End-of-season resets, however, will still result in a six-division drop.
New Heroes and Continued Updates

Despite the rank reset reversal, other planned updates remain on track. The highly anticipated additions of Human Torch and The Thing, expanding the hero roster to 39, are still scheduled for release. NetEase Games continues its commitment to adding two new playable characters per three-month season.
Rewards for players reaching Gold rank and above remain unchanged. Players achieving Gold rank or higher before the update will receive a free Invisible Woman costume. Grandmaster and above will receive Crests of Honor. Additional rewards, including another free costume and Crests of Honor (for Grandmaster and above), are planned for those who reach Gold rank by the season's end. Balance adjustments are also anticipated, though specifics are yet to be revealed.
Community Response and Developer Acknowledgement

Marvel Rivals' rapid response to player concerns has been praised by the community. The developer's swift release of Dev Talk 11, mere hours after the initial announcement, demonstrated their commitment to listening to player feedback. The team emphasized their dedication to community input, stating their goal is to "make Marvel Rivals the best game it can be," with the community as the "driving force."
The mid-season update is scheduled for February 21, 2025. Marvel Rivals is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Stay updated on the latest news via the official Marvel Rivals channels.
