Known Habitats: Ruins of Wyveria
Breakable Parts: Head, Tail, and Legs
Recommended Elemental Attack: Water
Effective Status Effects: Poison (2x), Sleep (2x), Paralysis (3x), Blastblight (2x), Stun (2x), Exhaust (-)
Effective Items: Pitfall Trap, Shock Trap, Flash Pod
Stun the Monster
Ebony Odogaron's speed can be overwhelming, but stunning it can give you the upper hand. Utilizing the Flashfly found nearby can temporarily immobilize the beast. Additionally, crafting Flash Pods to shoot at the monster is a strategic move to stop it in its tracks, allowing you to attack without the risk of immediate retaliation.
Bring Teammates
Facing Ebony Odogaron solo can be daunting due to its relentless attacks. Bringing teammates into the fray can significantly ease the burden. Send out an SOS signal to rally other hunters to your cause. If no players respond, NPCs can serve as effective distractions, allowing you to focus on dodging and counterattacking when the monster's attention shifts.
Pull Down Entangled Rocks
Strategically, during the battle, you'll encounter an area with Entangled Rocks overhead. Using your slinger to bring these down can stun Ebony Odogaron for a few precious seconds, offering a window for heavy damage. This tactic can only be used once per fight, but combining it with Pitfall and Shock Traps can extend your opportunities to immobilize the creature.
Beware of Dragonblight
Ebony Odogaron can inflict Dragonblight, which hampers your ability to deal elemental or status effect damage. To counteract this, carry Nulberries to cleanse the effect, or equip gear with Level 3 Dragon Resistance or Blight Resistance to mitigate its impact.
Inflict Paralysis
Paralysis is a game-changer in this fight, immobilizing Ebony Odogaron and making it easier to land critical hits. If you can knock it down near roots, it may become further entangled, extending your attack window and simplifying the battle.
Aim for the Head
The head is Ebony Odogaron's most vulnerable spot, boasting a 3-star weakness. Targeting it maximizes damage output, though it puts you directly in the monster's line of sight. For safer attacks, aim for its forelegs and tail, which, while less effective, can still contribute to breaking its limbs and weakening the beast.
