"Mastering Nerscylla: Capture Tactics in Monster Hunter Wilds"
Everyone needs to know how to beat Nerscylla, because it's a giant spider, and a lot of people hate that. It's also a great source of high-affinity weapons in *Monster Hunter Wilds*, and for anyone who watched the *Monster Hunter* film, it's probably the source of a few nightmares. So, let’s dive into how to conquer this massive arachnid.
How to Beat Nerscylla in Monster Hunter Wilds
Nerscylla's Weaknesses: Fire, Thunder (When mantle is broken)
Resistances: Sleep
Immunities: Sonic Bomb
This enormous spiky spider is a formidable foe. Not only is it fast, but it's also incredibly agile due to its web abilities. It can immobilize you with webbing, poison you with its bite, and even put you to sleep with its rear stinger. Nerscylla is a powerhouse of status effect damage, so you should take it very seriously. Always bring antidotes for sleep and poison, or you'll find yourself in deep trouble.
When facing Nerscylla, be wary of two main types of attacks. The first are its bite or pincer attacks. You'll see Nerscylla rear back slightly as two orange fangs protrude from its mouth, then it'll charge forward to slam them together. This not only inflicts poison but also deals significant damage. The best way to avoid this is to quickly move behind it or simply run away.
The other attacks to watch out for are its web-based assaults. Nerscylla can shoot web directly at you or spit three webs at different angles in succession. Getting webbed will immobilize you, but you can dodge these attacks. Additionally, Nerscylla can rush you with web in two ways: a horizontal charge that's incredibly quick, requiring you to block or dodge to the side, and a vertical swing akin to Spider-Man, which you can avoid with sideways movement.
How to Capture Nerscylla in Monster Hunter Wilds
Capturing Nerscylla requires preparation and strategy. Start by equipping yourself with a Pitfall Trap, a Shock Trap, and some Tranq Bombs. Although you technically need only one trap and two Tranq Bombs, it's wise to bring extras because things can go wrong quickly in *Monster Hunter Wilds*.
Engage Nerscylla in battle and weaken it until it's nearly defeated. You'll know it's close to capture when it starts limping, and your NPC teammates comment on its weakened state. A more reliable indicator is a small skull icon that appears next to Nerscylla's symbol on the mini-map. Once it's sufficiently weakened, set a trap, lure Nerscylla into it, and throw two Tranq Bombs to successfully capture it.
