"Medabots Survivor: Classic RPG Meets Bullet Heaven"
If you've been keeping an eye on the latest game releases around the world, there's another one you might be lamenting over not being able to play. Medabot Survivors is set to launch on February 10th, bringing the beloved robot role-playing franchise back to mobile devices. However, there's a catch—it's currently only available in Japan.
As reported by Gematsu, Medabots might ring a bell for those of us who grew up during the era following Pokémon's massive success. In that time, there was a significant effort to introduce various Japanese franchises with merchandising potential to Western audiences. While many of us are familiar with Digimon (and some might argue it even surpasses Pokémon), Medabots was one of those series that didn't quite make it big here.
Back in Japan, however, Medabots has been a major hit. It's not world-beating, but it certainly enjoys a level of popularity that it never achieved in the West. It's no surprise then that the franchise is branching into the Survivors-like genre with Medabot Survivors, though for now, fans outside of Japan will have to wait to get their hands on it.
**Surviving Survivors**
While the genre might be referred to as Survivors-like, it has been around much longer than the iconic game Vampire Survivors. The release of Medabot Survivors is not only exciting for fans but also noteworthy as we observe this genre's rapid global expansion.
Having gained some insight into how things work in Japan, I can confirm there are many excellent releases that might never make it to other markets. If Medabot Survivors proves to be a hit, there's hope that we might see it come to other regions in the future.
In the meantime, if you're eager to explore upcoming games you can play right now, check out our latest feature in Ahead of the Game, where Catherine Dellosa delves into the charming world of Cat Restaurant.
