Konami producer Noriaki Okamura recently hinted to IGN about the possibility of MGS4: Guns of the Patriots being remade and included in MGS Master Collection Vol. 2, alongside ports for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and potentially other platforms. While acknowledging the considerable fan interest, Okamura remained cautious about revealing concrete details. He stated that Konami is currently focusing on the future direction of the series.

The possibility of an MGS4 remake or port has been a topic of much discussion among fans, especially given the PS3 exclusivity of the original game. The successful launch of Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1, featuring remastered versions of the first three games on various platforms including PC and Switch, further fuels this speculation.

Last year, placeholder buttons for MGS4, MGS5, and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker appeared on Konami's official timeline, adding to the rumors. IGN reported that these titles are likely candidates for inclusion in Master Collection Vol. 2, though official confirmation is still pending.

Adding to the intrigue, David Hayter, the English voice actor for Solid Snake, hinted at his involvement in an MGS4-related project on social media last November.
