Milly Alcock Recalls 'High-Up' Advising Coaches on HOTD Set

She portrayed one of the most legendary characters in the Game of Thrones saga, but Milly Alcock's journey as young Rhaenyra Targaryen in House of the Dragon began with unexpected challenges. The Australian actress recently disclosed that a senior production figure suggested she needed acting coaching after just her second day on set.

"On my second day filming House of the Dragon, someone important privately told me, 'We're arranging an acting coach for you,'" Alcock shared during an appearance on The Tonight Show, admitting the experience left her deeply embarrassed.

The Critics Choice-nominated performer humorously reflected on how the incident affected her confidence. "It basically confirmed my worst fear - that I'm terrible at acting," she joked. "I thought, 'I'm completely out of my depth here. This was a huge casting mistake.'"

Alcock, who will appear as Supergirl in both this year's Superman film and next year's Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, had a major role in Season 1 as the young Princess Rhaenyra and made a guest appearance in Season 2. Emma D'Arcy portrays the older version of the character who eventually becomes queen.

The prequel series debuted in August 2022, three years after Game of Thrones concluded. HBO renewed House of the Dragon for Season 2 days after premiere, and surprisingly greenlit Season 3 in June 2024 before Season 2's release. The show earned critical acclaim, winning the Golden Globe for Best Drama Series.

While Season 3 has been confirmed, an official release date remains undisclosed as production continues.
