Neil Druckmann: No Promises on The Last of Us Part 3

May 27,25

If you're a fan of The Last of Us eagerly awaiting news on a potential Part 3, you might want to brace yourself. Neil Druckmann, the series creator, has recently thrown cold water on any hopes for a new installment in the franchise. In a detailed interview with Variety focused primarily on the upcoming The Last of Us TV series, Druckmann addressed the possibility of The Last of Us Part 3 with a definitive statement that may disappoint many fans.

“I was waiting for this question,” Druckmann said with a sigh. “I guess the only thing I would say is don’t bet on there being more of ‘Last of Us.’ This could be it.”

PlayWhether you choose to believe Druckmann remains a personal decision. Currently, Naughty Dog is fully committed to their new project, *Intergalactic*, which was unveiled at The Game Awards last December. With no release window in sight, it's clear that *Intergalactic* is their main focus for the foreseeable future, leaving little room for *The Last of Us Part 3*. Druckmann might be playing his cards close to the chest, or perhaps he's genuinely finished with the series. Only time will tell.

For those still hungry for more The Last of Us, the television series offers a silver lining. The second season is set to premiere on April 13 on Max. While Druckmann expressed uncertainty about how many seasons it would take to cover the story of Part 2, an HBO executive hinted in February that four seasons might be the ideal number to wrap up the narrative.
