Battletoads/Double Dragon, Big Run, and More!
Prepare for a nostalgic gaming experience! Nintendo's September update brings four SNES titles from the early 90s to the Nintendo Switch Online platform. This diverse selection offers beat 'em up action, intense racing, challenging puzzles, and even a spirited dodgeball competition.
First, the iconic beat 'em up mashup: Battletoads/Double Dragon. Witness the Battletoads and the Double Dragon brothers unite to defeat the Dark Queen and her Shadow Warriors. Choose from five playable characters, including Billy and Jimmy Lee (Double Dragon) and the amphibian trio Zitz, Pimple, and Rash (Battletoads).
Originally released on NES in June 1993 and later ported to SNES in December 1993, this marks a long-awaited return for Battletoads/Double Dragon.
Next, dive into the fast-paced action of Kunio-kun no Dodgeball da yo Zen’in Shūgō! (Super Dodgeball in the West). This dodgeball game features the popular Kunio-kun from the River City series. Compete against global rivals in diverse arenas, from indoor stadiums to outdoor beaches, each with unique challenges.
Initially released for the Super Famicom in August 1993.
Puzzle enthusiasts will appreciate Cosmo Gang the Puzzle. This strategic puzzler, reminiscent of Tetris and Puyo Puyo, challenges players to clear lines of containers and Cosmos. Choose from three modes: 1P Mode (solo score challenge), VS Mode (head-to-head competition), and 100 Stage Mode (increasingly difficult puzzles). Clear lines horizontally, and utilize the descending blue orbs to remove Cosmos.
Initially an arcade release in 1992, Cosmo Gang the Puzzle later arrived on the Super Famicom (1993) and various platforms since, including recent appearances on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4.
