Nintendo Switch 2: 120fps, 4K Resolution in Docked Mode
The long-awaited details about Nintendo's next-generation console, the Nintendo Switch 2, have finally been unveiled, and the specifications are more impressive than many anticipated. The system supports up to 120fps and can reach 4K resolution when docked, marking a significant upgrade from its predecessor.
During today's Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, Nintendo showcased various features of the new system. The Nintendo Switch 2 boasts a larger 7.9-inch built-in screen compared to the original Switch, while maintaining the same thickness of 13.9mm. With approximately double the pixels, it supports a 1080p display in handheld mode at up to 120fps. The screen is an LCD type and supports HDR, which extends to 4K resolution and HDR when docked.The Joy-Con 2 controllers feature a magnetic connection and can be detached by pressing a release button on the back. The SL and SR buttons on the sides are larger, enhancing playability in horizontal mode, and the left and right sticks have also been upsized. This segment also officially introduced mouse control support within the Joy-Con controllers.
The handheld version of the Nintendo Switch 2 includes a built-in microphone with noise-canceling technology and 3D audio capabilities for compatible games. It also features a more robust and adjustable stand compared to the original Switch, allowing for various height settings. Additionally, there's a top USB port that can be used for external camera connectivity or to charge the system while in tabletop mode.
Lastly, the Nintendo Switch 2 comes equipped with 256GB of internal storage, providing ample space for games and applications.
