"Nintendo Switch 2 Unveiled: Zelda Speedrunner Defeats Boss in Under 10 Minutes"

May 01,25

A speedrunner of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild achieved a remarkable feat by completing the Nintendo Switch 2 version of the acclaimed RPG in just 10 minutes at the Nintendo Switch 2 Experience in Japan.

As reported by VGC, Japanese content creator Ikaboze accomplished this by using an existing save file, without prior knowledge of Link's equipment. Ikaboze decided to "defeat the final boss while tied up completely naked and with all my equipment removed," and managed to take down Ganon in just seven minutes, leading to spontaneous applause from the audience.

This achievement was especially impressive as Ikaboze was navigating an unfamiliar controller and could not hear the game over the convention hall's noise.

“I was surprised by how many people had gathered,” Ikaboze remarked. “Staff were even filming on their smartphones. This was the first time anyone had completed the Breath of the Wild demo, and staff congratulated me."

The Nintendo Switch 2 Enhanced Edition of Breath of the Wild boasts improved visuals and performance, achievements, and integrates with the new "Zelda Notes" service on the Nintendo Switch Online app. Current owners of Breath of the Wild on the original Switch can access these enhancements via a $10 "upgrade pack." Both Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom upgrade packs are available at no additional cost to Nintendo Switch Online and Expansion Pack subscribers.

For those not opting for the upgrade, here are the prices for Nintendo Switch 2 Edition games in the U.S.:

  • Kirby and The Forgotten Land - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star Crossed World - $79.99
  • The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition - $69.99
  • Super Mario Party Jamboree - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV - $79.99
