Reviews & Mini-Views
EGGCONSOLE Star Trader PC-8801mkIIsr ($6.49)
This untranslated EGGCONSOLE release presents a familiar dilemma: is the game enjoyable despite the language barrier? Star Trader blends adventure and side-scrolling shooter elements, but neither aspect truly shines. The adventure sections feature appealing artwork, but the shooter segments suffer from choppy scrolling, a limitation of the PC-8801 hardware. The game's structure is unclear, with the adventure and shooter elements awkwardly intertwined.
The adventure portions are text-heavy, making the game nearly unplayable for those who don't understand Japanese. While some progress can be made through trial and error, the experience is significantly hampered. Star Trader offers a glimpse into gaming history, but its enjoyment is severely limited by the language barrier.
Star Trader is an interesting historical artifact, but its significant Japanese text makes it difficult to recommend wholeheartedly.
SwitchArcade Score: 3/5

Crypt Custodian ($19.99)
This top-down action-adventure game follows Pluto, a recently deceased cat, who must eternally clean after a run-in with the Afterlife Guardian. Players explore, battle enemies with a broom, meet quirky characters, and upgrade abilities. It's a solid entry in the genre, worth checking out for fans.
