Obsidian RPG Avowed Can Hit 60FPS on Xbox Series X

Obsidian Entertainment's highly anticipated role-playing game, Avowed, promises to deliver a smooth gaming experience by reaching up to 60 frames per second on the Xbox Series X. Game director Carrie Patel shared this exciting detail with MinnMax, confirming that players can expect this performance level on Microsoft's more powerful console. However, fans of the Xbox Series S will have to settle for a 30fps cap, as previously announced.

While it remains uncertain whether Avowed will feature the now-common performance and graphics modes—where performance mode typically offers 60fps with reduced visual quality, and graphics mode offers 30fps with enhanced visuals—it's not yet clear if the Xbox Series X version will naturally achieve 60fps as a default setting.

Set to launch on February 13, Avowed is priced at $89.99 for early access. For those opting for the standard $69.99 price, Microsoft requires a wait until February 18. This pricing strategy, recently adopted by various publishers, has already been abandoned by companies like Ubisoft.

Avowed is set within the same universe as Pillars of Eternity, presenting players with a first-person fantasy RPG experience that heavily focuses on player choice. The narrative delves into themes of war, mystery, and intrigue, allowing players to explore the world and build relationships or rivalries with its inhabitants.

IGN's Final Preview of Avowed showered the game with praise, highlighting its nuanced conversations, the freedom it offers to players, and concluding that "Avowed is just a lot of fun."
