Hideki Kamiya, renowned game director behind classics like Okami, Devil May Cry, and Bayonetta, embarks on a new chapter. After a two-decade tenure at PlatinumGames, he's launched Clovers Inc., a new studio dedicated to fulfilling a long-held ambition: an Okami sequel.

A Dream 18 Years in the Making

Kamiya's passion for completing the Okami narrative is well-documented. He publicly expressed his desire for a sequel to Capcom, but his requests went unanswered. Now, with Clovers Inc. and Capcom as publisher, his vision is finally becoming reality.

Clovers Inc.: A New Beginning

The name "Clovers Inc." pays homage to Clover Studio, the developer of the original Okami, and reflects Kamiya's deep-rooted connection to his past teams. A joint venture with former PlatinumGames colleague Kento Koyama, Clovers Inc. prioritizes a shared creative vision over sheer size. The team, currently 25 strong, comprises many former PlatinumGames employees who share Kamiya's dedication.

Departure from PlatinumGames

Kamiya's departure from PlatinumGames, a company he co-founded, surprised many. He cites a divergence in creative philosophies as the primary reason for his move, emphasizing the importance of aligning with a team that shares his vision for game development.

A Softer Side?

Kamiya's known for his blunt online persona. Recently, however, he's shown a more empathetic side, apologizing to a fan he previously offended and engaging more positively with his followers. While his characteristic directness remains, a shift in his online interactions is evident.
