A new trailer, showcased during the PlayStation State of Play, offered a captivating glimpse into the game's sword-based combat and imposing enemies. Despite its 2026 release date, Onimusha: Way of the Sword already promises thrilling action.
Miyamoto Musashi's portrayal extends beyond his unmatched swordsmanship; the trailer highlights his mischievous and humorous personality.Capcom describes Onimusha: Way of the Sword as a dark fantasy action game featuring one of Japan's most celebrated historical figures. Musashi's in-game likeness is reportedly based on Toshiro Mifune, the renowned Japanese actor who famously portrayed Musashi in numerous samurai films.
The game unfolds in a Kyoto overrun by Malic, an evil force summoning hellish creatures into Japan. This marks the first new Onimusha title in two decades. To build anticipation, Capcom also announced a remaster of Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny, launching May 23, 2025.
