Overture DLC Unrelated to Lies of P's Final Cutscene Reveal, Director Confirms
Since the announcement of the upcoming DLC for *Lies of P*, titled *Overture*, fans have been buzzing with anticipation and speculation about the new mysteries it might unveil. However, during last week's Game Developers Conference, IGN discovered that one particular puzzle from the base game—the enigmatic final cutscene—won't be unraveled in the DLC.
For those yet to experience the end of Lies of P, here's a spoiler-free summary: the game concludes with a cutscene that hints at potential future directions for the Lies of P universe. This twist has sparked numerous theories among fans about its implications and whether the upcoming DLC would address it. However, Lies of P director Jiwon Choi clarified that this cutscene is not connected to the DLC. He added intriguingly, "Please stay tuned for additional announcements in the future."
With Neowiz already confirming a sequel to *Lies of P*, it's likely that the mysterious cutscene is setting the stage for *Lies of P 2*. Details on the sequel remain scarce, and Choi remained tight-lipped about any sequel-related hints during our discussion. He emphasized Neowiz's commitment to quality, stating, "What I can certainly tell you is when we share such news or media and assets with you, you'll know for sure that we are ready to present it to you. And that follows very our strict focus on quality [amid] all the pressure that we talked about in the past. So that is the one promise that I can share with you, that when we actually share those contents with you and the news, we will be ready to share that with you."

The scene in question is the "Dorothy scene." As detailed here, the final cutscene features Paracelcus on a phone call, mentioning he will "find her, for sure. Another key of ours: Dorothy." The scene then reveals Dorothy from *The Wizard of Oz* with her iconic striped socks and ruby slippers, suggesting that future *Lies of P* content might delve into other public domain fairy tales. Yet, the exact connection remains a mystery, and it won't be explored in *Overture*.
SPOILERS END HERE.
While the Dorothy scene won't be part of the DLC, Choi offered some insights into what *Overture* will bring. He encouraged fans to replay the base game, hinting at hidden clues within the game world that foreshadow the DLC's content: "When you play through the base game again, you'll see many hints that we scattered throughout the whole experience," Choi noted. "A lot of hints and a lot of windows into the world, and you'll be able to actually see that and experience that in expansion…There are many things that I actually wanted to accomplish when we were working on the base game. It didn't get put into the base game, and all of that, at least key elements of that are going to be included in expansion." He also mentioned that some fans are already close to uncovering Neowiz's secrets, as he regularly reads online fan theories.
Additional details about *Overture* include an estimated playtime of 15-20 hours for experienced players. The DLC will be accessible after players have completed a "certain" chapter of the game and will remain available until the end. As a prequel, *Overture* will transport the main character back to Krat just before its downfall, featuring new locations, enemies, bosses, characters, and weapons. Choi, however, is keeping the specifics under wraps to preserve the surprise for the release.
