Palworld's Terraria Update: Fishing, Salvaging, Pal Trust Added
The Palworld x Terraria crossover update has officially launched, delivering one of the most expansive content drops since the game’s early access debut. Version 0.6.0, also known as the Tides of Terraria update, introduces a wealth of new features, including a full Terraria collaboration, fishing, salvage mechanics, expanded settlements, a Pal trust system, and an increased level cap.
At the heart of this update is the highly anticipated crossover with Terraria, Re-Logic’s iconic sandbox adventure. The update adds a brand-new dungeon filled with Terraria-themed enemies, where players can gather rare materials to craft exclusive gear from the Terraria universe. Among the most exciting additions is the Moon Lord—a fearsome raid boss from Terraria—now invading Palworld as a high-difficulty challenge. Team up with friends and your Pals to take on this cosmic threat and claim powerful rewards.
Beyond the crossover, the update brings significant gameplay enhancements. PlayStation 5 players now have access to dedicated servers, ensuring smoother and more stable multiplayer experiences. Fishing has been added as a new mechanic: craft a fishing rod and bait, then cast into waters where fish shadows appear to catch new aquatic Pals. Pair this with the new salvage system, where you can ride waterborne Pals and recover valuable ores from the ocean floor to upgrade your gear.
Three new island types have been introduced—Tropical Islands, Iceberg Island, and Shipwreck Island—each home to unique Pals and exploration opportunities. The mission system expands world interaction, allowing players to accept quests across the Palpagos Islands for rewards. Completing special missions for character Zoe can even earn her trust and recruit her as an ally.
A new Pal trust mechanic deepens the bond between player and Pal. The more time you spend with a Pal, the more trust you build, leading to stat boosts—especially impactful for weaker Pals, giving them a chance to shine. You can now also rest alongside your Pals after a long day of adventuring, adding a cozy touch to base life.
Treasure maps guide players to hidden stashes, while enemy factions now construct their own bases, heavily defended but offering valuable blueprints upon successful raids. Settlements have been overhauled to feel more alive, with larger layouts and more NPCs to interact with.
Player progression has been extended with the level cap raised from 60 to 65. New buildings enhance base functionality, including the Pal Surgery Table (for modifying Pal passives and gender), Fishing Pond, Hexolite Quartz Mine, Large Incubator, and Palbox Control Device for quick Pal access during raids. A new futuristic building set, [Clean], adds sleek aesthetic options.
A new environmental mechanic—Turbulence—lets players harness strange air currents to launch high into the sky, opening up fresh traversal possibilities. New weapons like the Charge Rifle, Energy Shotgun, Overheat Rifle, Boost Gun, and Pal Recovery Grenade expand combat and support options. Whistles and the Growth Acceleration Bell are now available, along with new food recipes.
In the Arena, a single-player challenge mode offers ranked battles with rewarding tickets. Players can now set custom rules, use a public Pal Box, and spectate matches in multiplayer. UI improvements include Easy Bulk Storage for instant material organization, streamlined Pal Condensation, and preset Pal selection from the Pal Box.
Balance changes include equipment durability in settings, reduced food spoilage when cooling Pals work at flea markets, and improved HP recovery from Lyleen’s "Bountiful Protection." Some aggressive enemies are now neutral, Pal skill cooldowns tick down even when not summoned, and mount speeds have been rebalanced. Bounty hunter variety has increased, NPC rewards have been adjusted with reset conversation logs, and end-game content like Pal Condensation has been eased on normal difficulty.
New skills span multiple elements: Water, Grass, Ice, and unique active abilities like Hydro Spin, Thalasonic Laser, Trigger Happy, and Dash Kick. Passive skills have also been expanded. Pal swimming now features dedicated animations and improved water speed.
UI updates include automatic material selection in bulk and green HP bars for neutral enemies, improving combat clarity. Multiplayer stability has improved with a fix for version-matching server filters.
World design enhancements include more varied random dungeons, globally placed fishing and salvage spots, and additional achievement milestones. Numerous bugs have been resolved, including Jetragon’s excessive jump height and various minor issues.
This major update reflects Pocketpair’s ongoing commitment to Palworld, even amid legal challenges from Nintendo and The Pokémon Company. Despite recent forced changes due to litigation, the team continues to innovate and expand the game’s universe. Following its record-breaking launch on Steam and Game Pass, and a strategic partnership with Sony forming Palworld Entertainment, the franchise continues to grow.
At GDC, Palworld’s communications director John “Bucky” Buckley shared candid insights into the game’s journey, addressing AI allegations, design comparisons, and the unexpected impact of the patent lawsuit—calling it a “shock” no one saw coming.
With the Tides of Terraria update, Palworld evolves into a richer, deeper experience—blending survival, crafting, exploration, and now, cross-universe adventure.
