Fields of Mistria: Can You Actually Date the Romance Options?
While Fields of Mistria is lauded for its well-developed romance options and engaging storylines, the straightforward answer is: not yet, technically. However, the existing romance system is incredibly rich and rewarding, justifying the game's price point. My personal 100+ hours spent pursuing March's affection certainly attest to that!
The November 2024 update significantly enhanced the romance system. The maximum relationship level increased from four hearts to six, with added heart events for each romanceable NPC to celebrate relationship milestones. Cutscenes are unlocked at two, four, and six hearts. Future updates are planned to introduce eight- and ten-heart events, though no firm release dates are available beyond the anticipated March 2025 update (which will not include additional heart levels or events).

Despite the current pause in adding deeper romance mechanics, the existing content shines. The dialogue is realistic and often flirty, leaving ample room for romantic interpretation, even in seemingly platonic early interactions. The progression feels satisfyingly gradual and rewarding.
A significant addition in the last major update was the Shooting Star Festival. This summer event allows for date-like interactions with eligible NPCs (requiring four hearts). Currently, you can share a stargazing evening with Caldarus, although this doesn't trigger a date at the Summit location like other options. This might change with the March 2025 update, which is expected to unlock Caldarus's full romance questline.
In short, while official "dates" aren't currently a feature, Fields of Mistria offers a compelling and deeply engaging romance experience that will keep players captivated until the full dating mechanic is implemented.
