Following the reveal of the Nintendo Switch 2, it's clear that the partnership between Nintendo and Xbox is set to continue and thrive. Microsoft's head of gaming, Phil Spencer, recently reaffirmed his commitment to the Switch platform, emphasizing its role in reaching gamers who are not typically on Xbox or PC.

In a recent interview with Variety, Spencer was asked about specific projects planned for the Nintendo Switch 2. He responded by highlighting the successful collaboration on the original Switch and expressing enthusiasm for extending this support to the Switch 2.

"Nintendo has been a great partner. We think it is a unique way for us to reach players who aren’t PC players, who aren’t players on Xbox," Spencer stated. "It lets us continue to grow our community of people that care about the franchises that we have, and that’s really important for us to make sure we continue to invest in our games."

Spencer has consistently praised the Nintendo Switch 2, particularly applauding Nintendo's innovative approach since the console's initial teaser. He has also confirmed that Xbox will continue to expand its game availability across multiple platforms, including PlayStation, Steam, and Nintendo's consoles.

When asked by Variety if the Switch 2 reveal made him eager to announce Xbox's next console lineup, Spencer remained focused on Xbox's current strategy. "No. I think all of us in this industry should focus on our communities and the player base that we’re building," he said. "I get inspired by what a lot of different creators do and other platform holders. But I believe in the plans that we have."

The Xbox head reiterated the company's commitment to delivering games across as many platforms as possible, including cloud, PC, and consoles. Titles like Pentiment and Obsidian's Grounded have already made their way to Nintendo platforms, and it will be exciting to see what Xbox brings to the Switch 2 once it launches.
