Hello, dear readers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for August 28th, 2024. Yesterday's presentation was packed with exciting announcements, including a slew of shadow-dropped games that have transformed our typically quiet Wednesday into a bustling hub of gaming news. Today, we'll dive into the latest news, explore the new releases on the eShop, and highlight the new and expiring sales. Let's jump right in!

The Partner/Indie World Showcase Delivered a Feast of Announcements
The decision to blend two smaller versions of the usual Directs into one comprehensive showcase was a smart move, resulting in a flood of game announcements. While it's impossible to cover everything here, some standout reveals included the shadow drops we'll discuss in the New Releases section, Capcom Fighting Collection 2, the Suikoden I & II remakes, Yakuza Kiwami, Tetris Forever, MySims, Worms Armageddon: Anniversary Edition, and new entries in the Atelier and Rune Factory series, among many others. The variety of games announced caters to a wide range of tastes, so I recommend setting aside some time to watch the full video—even if you just skim through it.
Select New Releases
Castlevania Dominus Collection ($24.99)
A thrilling shadow drop from the Direct, this third Castlevania collection includes the three beloved Nintendo DS titles: Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin, and Order of Ecclesia. It also features the arcade classic Haunted Castle and a superb remake of the same by M2. Known for their meticulous work, M2 has delivered a top-tier experience with excellent emulation and all the features you could hope for. At this price, it's an unbeatable deal.
Pizza Tower ($19.99)
This Wario Land-inspired, frenetic platformer made a surprise appearance on the Switch. Navigate through the five massive floors of the Pizza Tower to demolish it and rescue your restaurant. If you're nostalgic for Wario's handheld escapades, Pizza Tower is a must-have. Even if you're not a Wario fan but enjoy platforming, this game deserves a look. We're aiming to review it soon, so stay tuned.
Goat Simulator 3 ($29.99)
Continuing the trend of shadow drops, Goat Simulator 3 adds to our Wednesday excitement. You're familiar with the Goat Simulator formula by now. Although I can't confirm its performance on the Switch, it's known to challenge more powerful consoles at times. Approach with caution, but remember, its quirky, chaotic nature might just add to the fun. It's all about silly goats causing mayhem in an open world—your Switch might just survive the experience.
Peglin ($19.99)
It's a common lament that Electronic Arts missed a golden opportunity by not bringing Popcap's games to the Switch. While we won't see a Peggle collection, Peglin offers a delightful alternative. This mobile favorite combines Peggle with a turn-based RPG roguelite, and it's just as enjoyable on the Switch. We'll have a full review coming soon for those who need more convincing.
Doraemon Dorayaki Shop Story ($20.00)
Kairosoft's tried-and-true simulation formula gets a fresh twist with the Doraemon license in Doraemon Dorayaki Shop Story. This shop sim features characters from the beloved Doraemon manga and anime series. The developers have put effort into staying true to the license, with occasional appearances by characters from other works by the manga artist. It's a cute and charming addition to the genre.
Pico Park 2 ($8.99)
For fans of the original, Pico Park 2 offers more of the cooperative puzzle-solving fun. Up to eight players can join in, whether locally or online, and the game thrives on teamwork. While it doesn't reinvent the wheel, it's a solid sequel for those who couldn't get enough of the first game.
Kamitsubaki City Ensemble ($3.99)
This budget-friendly rhythm game features music from Kamitsubaki Studio. It's straightforward—hit the notes, follow the story, and enjoy the tunes. At this price point, it's a great pick for rhythm game enthusiasts.
SokoPenguin ($4.99)
A classic Sokoban-style crate-pushing puzzle game, but with a charming penguin protagonist. With 100 levels to tackle, it's perfect for fans of the genre.
Q2 Humanity ($6.80)
This quirky physics-based puzzle game offers over 300 levels and introduces new character abilities alongside drawing mechanics. It supports up to four players in local or online multiplayer, making it a fun group activity.
