Niantic confirmed the addition of Morpeko, a Pokémon known for its form-changing abilities, sparking fan speculation about the introduction of Dynamax and Gigantamax. Niantic's announcement stated, "Coming soon: Morpeko will charge into Pokémon GO, changing the way you battle! Certain Pokémon—like Morpeko—will be able to change form in battle by using a Charged Attack, unleashing new possibilities for you and your battle team." The upcoming season's tagline – "big changes, big battles, and…big Pokémon" – further fuels this anticipation. The potential inclusion of these mechanics, typically associated with the Galar region, suggests a Galar-themed season. This speculation also extends to the possible arrival of other Galar Pokémon like Mimikyu and Aegislash.

While specifics remain undisclosed, the changes are expected to launch in September. The implementation of Dynamax and Gigantamax in Pokémon GO remains unknown, including whether Power Spots, their Sword and Shield counterpart, will be incorporated.
