Pokémon TCG Unveils Black Bolt and White Flare

Dec 18,25

The Pokémon Company has unveiled a new dual expansion for the Pokémon TCG, continuing the Scarlet & Violet series. Named Scarlet & Violet: Black Bolt and Scarlet & Violet: White Flare, both expansions are set to launch worldwide on July 18, 2025, at participating retailers.

These expansions highlight the 156 Pokémon first discovered in the Unova region. Every Unova Pokémon will be featured as either an illustration rare or a special illustration rare card, with distinct variations exclusive to Black Bolt and White Flare products.

Scarlet & Violet: Black Bolt will showcase the Legendary Pokémon Zekrom, while Scarlet & Violet: White Flare features Reshiram. Both sets will introduce three distinct parallel foil patterns, including two that display either a rainbow Poké Ball or Master Ball design across the entire card.

The expansions will also revive nostalgic card elements from the original Black & White series, such as retro foil styles and Basic Energy cards using the classic Black & White series artwork.

Pokémon TCG: Black Bolt and White Flare Preorder Details

Preorders for Black Bolt and White Flare have not been officially announced yet, but they are anticipated to become available around mid-May. This timeline is consistent with the announcement-to-preorder period observed for another 2025 release: Pokémon TCG: Destined Rivals, which launches later this month.
