Every Pokémon Game on the Nintendo Switch in 2025
Pokémon, a global media powerhouse and Nintendo mainstay since the Game Boy era, boasts hundreds of captivating creatures to collect in games and trading cards. Each generation expands this beloved universe, and the Nintendo Switch is no exception, offering a diverse range of Pokémon adventures.
With Nintendo's Switch 2 announcement confirming backwards compatibility, you can confidently invest in existing Switch Pokémon games, knowing they'll transition seamlessly to the new console. Below, we detail every Pokémon game released on the Nintendo Switch, along with information on upcoming Switch 2 titles.
How Many Pokémon Games Are on Nintendo Switch?
Twelve Pokémon games have graced the Nintendo Switch, encompassing mainline entries from generations eight and nine, plus numerous spin-offs. For this list, dual-version mainline games are counted as single releases. Nintendo Switch Online offerings are excluded, but you'll find that list further down.
Note: 2024 marked a break in new Pokémon game releases (over a year since the last release, and two years since the last mainline title). The Pokémon Company instead launched *Pokémon TCG Pocket*, a hugely successful free card game app (not available on Switch).
What Pokémon Game Should You Play in 2024?
In 2024, *Pokémon Legends: Arceus* is a strong recommendation. While it deviates from classic Pokémon gameplay, it offers a refreshing open-world experience, enhanced action RPG elements, greater encounter control, and polished handheld gameplay.
