No Plans For Competitive Pocket

Pokémon TCG Pocket Has No Plans To Go Competitive

At present, there are no plans to include Pokémon TCG Pocket in Pokémon's competitive circuit. This was confirmed by The Pokémon Company’s Director of eSports, Chris Brown, during an interview with VGC on February 25, 2025. Brown mentioned that while the company is continually exploring different titles for the competitive scene, Pokémon TCG Pocket is not on the immediate agenda.

In a light-hearted moment, Brown referenced the company's April Fool’s parody trailer for the Pokémon Sleep Champion Tournament, saying, "Pokemon Sleep is out there too." However, he firmly stated, "But at this time, there are no plans for Pokémon Pocket to join, but we’re always looking at things."

Too Early And Unbalanced

Pokémon TCG Pocket Has No Plans To Go Competitive

While no official reasons have been provided for excluding Pokémon TCG Pocket from the competitive scene, fans have their theories. One possibility is that the game is still in its early stages, having been released just four months ago in October 2024, with only two sets released so far.

The game does include competitive features available since its launch, but players have raised concerns about ongoing balancing issues. Compared to the traditional Pokémon card game, Pokémon TCG Pocket offers a simplified, more beginner-friendly experience, which may not align well with a competitive environment.

Despite this, The Pokémon Competitive Circuit continues to offer a variety of events for fans, including Pokémon TCG, Pokémon GO, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, and Pokémon Unite. These games will all be showcased at the upcoming Pokémon World Championships in August 2025 in Anaheim, California.
