Pokémon Adds Another Game to the NSO Library
Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team Joins Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack

Get ready for another classic Pokémon adventure! Nintendo announced that Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team will be added to the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack service on August 9th. This beloved Game Boy Advance title lets players experience a unique roguelike journey as a Pokémon.
This addition expands the already impressive library of classic games available to Expansion Pack subscribers, including titles from Nintendo 64, Game Boy Advance, and Sega Genesis. Originally released in 2006, Red Rescue Team (alongside its counterpart, Blue Rescue Team) offered a fresh take on the Pokémon universe, allowing players to unravel the mystery behind their transformation into a Pokémon. A remake, Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX, was released for the Nintendo Switch in 2020.
Fan Demand for Mainline Pokémon Games
While the regular addition of classic games is appreciated, some fans express disappointment that the Expansion Pack hasn't yet included mainline Pokémon titles like Pokémon Red and Blue. Speculation about the reasons ranges from potential difficulties with N64 Transfer Pak compatibility and Nintendo Switch Online infrastructure to complexities involving the Pokémon Home app and its integration with the Switch. The lack of Nintendo's complete ownership of the app is cited as a possible hurdle. One fan suggested that ensuring fair and secure trading mechanics might be a factor delaying the inclusion of mainline games.

Nintendo Switch Online Mega Multiplayer Festival
Beyond the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon announcement, Nintendo revealed a special offer for Nintendo Switch Online resubscribers. As part of the Mega Multiplayer Festival (running until September 8th), purchasing a 12-month membership from the eShop or My Nintendo Store will reward you with an additional two free months.
Further perks include bonus Gold Points on game purchases (August 5th-18th) and free trials of four multiplayer Switch games (August 19th-25th), with the titles to be announced later. Finally, a Mega Multiplayer game sale will run from August 26th to September 8th, 2024.
The Future of NSO on Switch 2
