Pokécology: An Official Encyclopedia For Pokémon Behaviors and Ecology
Launches in Japan in June 2025
The Pokémon Company, in partnership with the esteemed Japanese comic publisher Shogakukan, is excited to announce the release of an official encyclopedia dedicated to Pokémon behaviors and ecology. Shogakukan made the announcement on their website on April 21, confirming that Pokécology will hit the shelves in Japan on June 18, 2025.
Pre-orders are currently open across bookstores throughout Japan. The book is priced at 1,430 yen, including tax. While there hasn't been an official announcement about a global release yet, considering Pokémon's immense global fanbase, it's highly likely that an English version will be available shortly.
Pokémon Ecology Encyclopedia
This groundbreaking official Pokémon encyclopedia will offer an in-depth look into the ecology of these beloved creatures. It will explore and analyze Pokémon from various angles, including their diet, sleep patterns, physical characteristics, and their interactions with both other Pokémon and their environments.
Pokécology is the result of meticulous research conducted by a team of distinguished veterinary behaviorists and ecology experts from the University of Tokyo. Ecologist Yoshinari Yonehara spearheads the project, bringing his expertise to the analysis of wild Pokémon. Additionally, the renowned illustrator Chihiro Kino, known for her work on numerous animal ecology books, will provide stunning full-color drawings of Pokémon.
While Pokémon has previously published hardcover books detailing Pokémon stats, battle techniques, stories, and game guides, this marks the first time the focus will be on the biology and ecology of these cherished companions. This book promises to be an invaluable resource for fans, particularly children, aiming to deepen their understanding of the Pokémon world.
