PUBG Mobile Esports World Cup: Stage One Concludes, 12 Teams Advance
The first stage of the PUBG Mobile Esports World Cup (EWC), held in Saudi Arabia as part of the larger Gamers8 event, has concluded. The initial field of 24 teams has been cut in half, leaving 12 contenders vying for a share of the $3 million prize pool.
For those unfamiliar with the EWC, it's an esports tournament showcasing some of the biggest gaming titles. PUBG Mobile's participation highlights the event's success in bringing prominent games to Saudi Arabia.
Currently, Alliance leads the pack. The remaining 12 teams will enjoy a brief respite before the final stage, scheduled for July 27th and 28th.
Global Impact
While the long-term impact of the PUBG Mobile World Cup on fan engagement remains to be seen, its presence at the EWC has generated significant buzz. It's worth noting, however, that despite its name, this isn't the largest event on the PUBG Mobile esports calendar. Upcoming tournaments may potentially overshadow this current competition.
Meanwhile, the 12 teams eliminated from the main event will have a second chance. A "Survival Stage" competition on July 23rd and 24th will offer two teams a path back to the main stage, promising intense competition.
