Rocksteady Hit Hard by 'Suicide Squad' Fallout

Rocksteady Studios, the creator of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, announced further layoffs in late 2024, impacting programmers, artists, and testers. This follows September's layoffs which halved the testing team's size.

The studio has struggled throughout 2024 to maintain the struggling Suicide Squad game, which Warner Bros. reports lost approximately $200 million. No further updates are planned for 2025, though servers will remain active.

These job cuts weren't isolated to Rocksteady; Games Montreal, another Warner Bros. Games studio, also experienced significant layoffs (99 employees) in December.

The game's early access launch exacerbated the situation. Players encountered numerous bugs, including server outages and a major story spoiler. Negative reviews from prominent gaming publications and widespread gameplay complaints led to a massive 791% surge in refund requests, according to McLuck analytics.

Rocksteady's future projects remain unannounced.
