God of War's Glauco Longhi Hints at New IP

God of War Devs' New Sci-Fi IP Rumors Swell

Glauco Longhi, a seasoned character artist and developer who contributed to the God of War saga, has sparked curiosity by suggesting that Santa Monica Studio is developing a new game IP. This revelation comes from Longhi's LinkedIn profile, where he mentions rejoining the studio earlier this year to lead the character development for an "unannounced project."

Longhi's journey with Santa Monica Studio began with God of War (2018), where he eventually rose to the role of lead character artist for God of War Ragnarok. His return was motivated by an offer to oversee the "character development pipeline" for this new venture.

"Supervising/Directing Character development on an unannounced project, and also helping the studio to continually push and raise the bar on Character Development for videogames," Longhi states in his profile update.

Adding to the intrigue, Cory Barlog, the creative director behind the 2018 God of War reboot, hinted that the studio is juggling multiple projects. Longhi's LinkedIn profile further indicates that Santa Monica Studio is actively expanding its team, with recent job postings for a character artist and tools programmer, signaling active development.

Rumors are swirling that this new project could be a sci-fi IP, possibly spearheaded by Stig Asmussen, the creative director of God of War 3. While these speculations are tantalizing, no official confirmation or announcement has been made by the studio. Earlier this year, Sony filed a trademark for "Intergalactic The Heretic Prophet," yet no further details have emerged. Years ago, whispers of a sci-fi project for the PS4 linked to Santa Monica Studio surfaced, but it's believed that project was eventually canceled.
