"The Last of Us Season 4 Uncertain: Craig Mazin Says Story Can't End in Season 3"

The success of HBO's adaptation of *The Last of Us* has been monumental, leading to a swift confirmation of Season 3 even before Season 2 premiered. However, the question on everyone's mind is whether the series will extend to a fourth season. Showrunner Craig Mazin has shed light on this, suggesting that a fourth season is almost a necessity for the series.

In a recent interview with Collider, Mazin emphasized that attempting to encapsulate the entire narrative of the two Naughty Dog video games into Season 3 would stretch the season's duration excessively. He pointed out that while Season 3 might be longer than Season 2, it simply "would take forever" to complete the story within that timeframe. Consequently, he stated, "there’s no way to complete this narrative in a third season."

Mazin expressed optimism about the series' future, hoping that the show would "earn our keep enough to come back and finish it in a fourth." He concluded by saying, "That’s the most likely outcome."
