May 29,25

If you're a fan of Sonic Rumble, you're in for a treat—even though the game isn't fully launched yet, SEGA has already kicked off its first crossover event: Crossover Event #0: SEGA Stars. The event runs now through May 7th, just before the global launch on May 8th.

Currently in soft launch mode, Sonic Rumble is available in over 40 countries. It initially launched during pre-launch 1 in Summer 2024 in select regions such as the Philippines, Scandinavia, and Colombia. Pre-launch 2 expanded availability to countries like Canada, Turkey, Malaysia, and South Africa.

What’s in Store?

If you’re among the players in the soft-launch regions, dive into the SEGA Stars crossover event. The legendary Altered Beast crew is back, and you can unlock the iconic Werewolf transformation for free. Fans of the nostalgic beast modes will be thrilled to know that the Werebear and Weredragon are also available. However, availability depends on how you choose to pay. The Weredragon is tied to the Premium Pass, while the Werebear may be purchasable with regular rings.

Fantasy fans will rejoice as Opa-Opa from Fantasy Zone joins the roster. Opa-Opa is part of the Premium Pass. Meanwhile, Upa-Upa is accessible via fragments purchased with standard rings, each costing 700.

And there’s more! Characters from Super Monkey BallAiAi and MeeMee—are making appearances. To get AiAi, you'll need 729 Red Star Rings. Check out the event trailer below.

Earn Exclusive Goodies During the Sonic Rumble SEGA Stars Crossover

Collect SEGA logos during matches to earn additional rewards. While it’s unusual to have events live before the global release, SEGA has confirmed that most of these pre-launch rewards will reappear later.

The blend of classic SEGA characters—monkeys, sentient arcade ships, and were-beasts—is a testament to the game's potential. It’s shaping up to be an exciting addition to the Sonic Rumble universe.

Download Sonic Rumble from the Google Play Store or keep an eye out for its global release on May 8th.
