Should You Side With Semine or Hashek in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2? (Necessary Evil Quest Guide Best Outcome)
In *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*, the main story quest "Necessary Evil" presents players with some of the game's most challenging moral dilemmas. A key decision in this quest is whether to side with Semine or Hashek. Here’s a detailed guide to help you navigate through this quest and understand the implications of your choices.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Necessary Evil Quest Walkthrough
Once you've completed the "Back in the Saddle" main quest, you can embark on "Necessary Evil." In this quest, von Bergow assigns Hans and Henry the task of gathering intelligence from Nebakov Fortress and interrogating a prisoner. The interrogation's outcome will dictate whether von Bergow targets Semine or Nebakov Fortress. For the purpose of this walkthrough, we will focus on the path that leads to Semine, where the most difficult decisions await.
Prisoner Interrogation Answers
During the interrogation, you will need to pass several Speech checks. You can either use intimidation or resort to torture to extract information. Here are the Speech check requirements for different dialogue options:
- “We’ll put in a good word for you.” (20 Impression)
- “Istvan and I are old acquaintances.” (20 Impression)
- “Otherwise, it’ll end badly for you.” (17 Intimidation)
After the interrogation, you'll uncover the identity of the bandit leader and Semine's involvement. When reporting back to von Bergow, you have the choice to implicate Young Semine in aiding the bandits, leading to an attack on the town, or claim that no one locally helped the bandits, which shifts the attack to Nebakov.
Should You Attack Semine or Nebakov?
Choosing to attack Semine involves traveling with the party to the town and facing more challenging decisions, particularly concerning Hashek. On the other hand, opting to attack Nebakov results in von Bergow handling the situation there, thus concluding the "Necessary Evil" quest quickly.
Choosing Nebakov might be preferable if you wish to avoid the bloodshed at Semine. However, morally, it feels wrong to let Semine escape consequences, given his role in the deaths of innocents. Personally, I chose to attack Semine, feeling it was the right choice despite having grown familiar with the townsfolk in the earlier parts of the game.
Remember, if you choose to attack Semine, it's crucial to travel with the party. Falling behind could result in the town's slaughter. Accompanying them gives you a chance to intervene and help Semine.
Should You Side With Semine or Hashek?
Before departing, a conversation with Hashek reveals his desire for vengeance against Semine and his inclination toward a bloody resolution. Upon arrival at Semine, you must decide between siding with Semine or Hashek. To support Hashek, select the dialogue option "Hashek is right." To support Semine, choose "Olda deserves a trial."
I recommend siding with Semine. Although Semine's actions in aiding the bandits were wrong, Hashek's approach would lead to more innocent deaths. If you've been playing Henry as a morally upright character, siding with Semine aligns with that path, preventing Hashek's destructive intentions.
After dealing with Hashek, advise the Semines to burn their estate and flee, which will advance the quest to your next objective: informing von Bergow about the events at Semine.
If you choose to side with Hashek, the entire town will be killed. Additionally, you can decide the fate of Olda, found in the tower, by either sparing him or handing him over to Hashek.
Should You Tell von Bergow or Let Hans Talk?
The final step involves reporting back to von Bergow with Hans. Here, you can either remain silent and let Hans handle the conversation, or speak up about the events at Semine. I suggest staying silent and allowing Hans to talk. Hans is better at diplomacy, and this approach keeps both him and Henry in von Bergow's favor, leading to plans for the next move against Nebakov.
This guide covers everything you need to know about the choice between Semine and Hashek in the "Necessary Evil" quest in *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*. For more tips, information on romance options, and where to find Goatskin, visit The Escapist.
