Silent Hill f Steam Deck Compatible, But Not Quite Verified
Silent Hill f is set to be playable on the Steam Deck, but it won't be without some tweaking. Dive in to discover Valve's classification for Silent Hill f on the Steam Deck and the game's PC requirements.
Silent Hill f Official Testing Results For Steam Deck Released
Playable But Requires Configuration
Valve's official testing has determined that Silent Hill f can indeed be played on the Steam Deck. However, it falls short of being "verified" due to the need for some configuration to ensure full compatibility with the handheld device. To earn the "verified" badge, a game must be fully operational with the Steam Deck's controls and display, passing Valve's rigorous checks for input, display, seamlessness, and system support.
According to the test results, Silent Hill f on the Steam Deck allows access to all functionalities with the default controller configuration and displays the Steam Deck controller icons. However, some in-game text may be too small to read comfortably. Additionally, manual tweaks are necessary to optimize performance on the Steam Deck.
This marks a significant step forward, especially when compared to the Silent Hill 2 Remake, which was initially unsupported on the Steam Deck despite efforts to enhance its compatibility. With no official release date announced yet for Silent Hill f, there's still ample time for Konami to refine its performance on the Steam Deck.
PC System Requirements
Last month, Konami unveiled the PC requirements for Silent Hill f on its Steam store page, offering insight into its performance on the Steam Deck. Below is a detailed breakdown of the game's minimum and recommended specifications.
For the minimum specs, an NVIDIA GTX 1070 is needed to run the game at 720p and 30fps on Performance Quality settings. Given the Steam Deck's GPU, players might experience a performance dip compared to these minimum PC requirements. While running at 720p on the Steam Deck might not be too detrimental, the difference could become more apparent when connecting to an HD TV. Konami also recommends using an SSD.
For the recommended specs, players can opt for Performance settings at 60fps or Quality settings at 30fps, but an SSD is mandatory in both cases.
The recent Silent Hill Transmission on March 13 provided a glimpse into what players can expect from Silent Hill f. The game is now available for wishlisting on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
