Konami: New Silent Hill f Welcomes All Players

Jan 22,26

Silent Hill f is not a sequel to any previous Silent Hill games. Similar to Silent Hill 2, it presents a standalone narrative that is "independent from the series."

Publisher Konami has officially confirmed on X/Twitter that the newest entry in the horror franchise—typically set in a quiet American coastal town—will be "a completely new title" enjoyable even for those unfamiliar with the series.

This concept isn't entirely unfamiliar for Silent Hill. While Silent Hill 1, Silent Hill 3, and Silent Hill Origins share interconnected stories, other installments like Silent Hill 2 feature weaker connections to the town. Additionally, segments of Silent Hill 4: The Room and Homecoming occur entirely outside the titular location. Konami's statement definitively confirms that understanding Silent Hill f's 1960s Japan setting won't require prior knowledge of the 26-year-old series.

Silent Hill f transports players to 1960s Japan, where we follow teenager Shimizu Hinako as she navigates pressures from family, friends, and society. The story is penned by Ryukishi07, creator of the When They Cry visual novel series. As shown in the Japanese-language reveal trailer last March, it will become the first Silent Hill game to receive an 18+ rating in Japan.

While the game's rating may change during ongoing development, previous titles like Silent Hill, Silent Hill 2, Silent Hill 3, and Silent Hill: The Room all received CERO:C ratings (ages 15+). Other internationally developed series entries typically earned CERO:C or CERO:D (17+) ratings. Silent Hill f carries similar mature ratings: Mature in the U.S., PEGI 18 in Europe, and CERO:Z in Japan.

No release date has been announced for Silent Hill f, and no additional information is available regarding No Code's upcoming Silent Hill project, Townfall.
