Smite 2's Open Beta Launch: A New Era for the MOBA

Get ready! Smite 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the popular MOBA, launches its free-to-play open beta on January 14, 2025. This marks a significant milestone for the Unreal Engine 5-powered game, which entered its Alpha phase in 2024.

This open beta isn't just about access; it's a content explosion. Alongside the launch, players will welcome Aladdin, the first God from the Tales of Arabia pantheon, a Magical Assassin and Jungler with unique wall-running and lamp-trapping abilities. The nostalgic return of fan-favorite Gods from the original Smite – Mulan, Geb, Ullr, and Agni – is also confirmed, each with updated skill sets.

Beyond new Gods, expect a revamped experience. The open beta introduces:

  • New Game Modes: Dive into the 3v3 Joust mode, set in an Arthurian-themed arena with teleporters and stealth grass, or test your skills in the 1v1 Duel mode, both using the same map.
  • Aspects System: This innovative feature allows players to sacrifice a God's ability for a powerful bonus. For instance, Athena loses her ally-shielding teleport but gains a foe-weakening one. Twenty Gods will initially feature Aspects, with more to come.
  • Quality-of-Life Improvements: Smite 2 prioritizes player experience with Role Guides, helpful new player messages, PC text chat, improved item stores, death recaps, and more.

By January 2025, the roster will boast nearly 50 Gods, a significant expansion from the initial 14 available during the Alpha. The open beta will showcase 20 of the game's 45 dynamic Gods with Aspects.

The excitement doesn't stop there. The first Smite 2 esports tournament finale will take place at the HyperX Arena in Las Vegas from January 17-19, further solidifying Smite 2's place in the competitive MOBA scene. Smite 2 is available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. Prepare for battle!
