Sony Offers Ellie's Intergalactic Skin to The Last of Us 2 PC Players for PSN Sign-Up
Sony has officially unveiled the PC specifications for The Last of Us Part II Remastered ahead of its highly anticipated release on April 3. Alongside these specs, Sony detailed new content for No Return Mode, which will be available across both PC and PlayStation 5 platforms. In an insightful post on the PlayStation Blog, Naughty Dog, with the assistance of support studios Nixxes Software and Iron Galaxy, outlined the enhancements that will elevate the PC gaming experience, following a year after the release of the PS5 version.
The Last of Us Part II Remastered PC Features:
- Nvidia DLSS 3 Super Resolution support
- AMD FSR 3.1 and AMD FSR 4 support with upscaling and frame generation
- VSync and framerate cap options, including an uncapped framerate option
- DirectStorage support
- Adjustable Texture Quality
- LOD Distance Range
- Volumetric Quality
- Shadow Quality
- Ambient Occlusion
- Reflections Quality
The game also supports ultrawide monitors, allowing you to immerse yourself in 21:9 ultra-wide, 32:9 super ultra-wide, and even 48:9 resolutions, with compatibility for triple-monitor setups. For those looking for the pinnacle of visual fidelity, 4K resolution is supported. You can use a variety of controllers or opt for the precision of keyboard and mouse controls, complete with 3D audio to enhance your gaming experience.
For PC players, keyboard and mouse control support is further enhanced with new customization options. These include full control remapping, primary and secondary bindings, and an adaptive mode that seamlessly blends keyboard and controller inputs. For those using gamepads, DualSense controllers provide full haptic feedback, enriching the sensory experience of the game.
Sony emphasizes that The Last of Us Part II Remastered on PC offers a broad spectrum of graphics settings and presets, ensuring an optimal experience whether you're on a high-end PC or a handheld gaming device.
The Last of Us Part 2 PC Specs:
No Return Mode Enhancements:
Sony is also enriching No Return Mode with the addition of two new characters from The Last of Us Part I: Bill and Marlene. Bill, categorized as a "Smuggler," has a unique ability to access a custom pump shotgun from dead drops and benefits from double rewards. However, while he's resilient against melee attacks, he lacks the ability to dodge. Marlene, on the other hand, embodies a "Risk Taker" playstyle, equipped with a Custom Assault Rifle, "All or Nothing" gambits, and the ability to reroute her path once per run.
Four new maps will be introduced to No Return, further diversifying the gameplay experience:
- Overlook: Set high above Seattle, this map offers verticality and is the site of a memorable Seraphites encounter in the campaign.
- School: The abandoned elementary school where Ellie and Dina confront the W.L.F.
- Streets: Set in the overgrown neighborhood of Hillcrest in Seattle.
- Nest: Familiar to players who have experienced Abby's journey through an Infected-infested building.
All the new content for No Return, along with new Trophies and additional bug fixes, will be accessible on PS5 simultaneously with the PC launch through a free downloadable 2.0.0 patch.
In light of recent changes to Sony's PlayStation Network policies, The Last of Us 2 Remastered on PC includes an optional PSN log-in feature. Logging in to PSN grants access to the PlayStation overlay and PSN Trophies, and as an added incentive, players receive 50 in-game points to activate bonus features and a new skin for Ellie, showcasing Jordan A. Mun’s jacket from Naughty Dog’s upcoming PS5 game, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.
PS5 players can also unlock the Jordan's jacket skin through the 2.0 patch, using in-game bonus points.
Earlier this month, Neil Druckmann, the director of The Last of Us, discussed the development of Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet in an interview with Alex Garland. The game, which has been in development for four years, delves into themes of faith and religion, set in an alternate historical timeline, and stars Tati Gabrielle as Jordan A. Mun.
The PC release of The Last of Us Part II Remastered comes ahead of Season 2 of HBO's popular TV adaptation, with showrunners Druckmann and Craig Mazin confirming the return of spores, which were absent in the first season.
