The previous generation, the Sony XM4, was already an outstanding headphone, but the XM5 introduces key improvements in both noise cancellation and comfort. The XM5 is equipped with a second processor and twice the number of microphones dedicated to filtering out ambient noise. Additionally, the earcups have been redesigned for a snugger fit on the ear, creating a better seal and enhancing passive noise isolation. The noise cancellation in the XM5 is noticeably superior to that of the XM4 and virtually any other noise-canceling headset within its price range.
