Dec 20,25

Sony's State of Play June 2025 showcase shattered viewership records, becoming the company's most-watched gaming presentation yet.

Marking the unofficial start of summer gaming announcements, Sony delivered an impressive lineup including first looks at 007 First Light, Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles, Romeo is a Dead Man, and Silent Hill f.

Streams Charts reports the broadcast reached unprecedented numbers, peaking at 2.2 million concurrent viewers - surpassing all previous State of Play events. This achievement places it third among 2025's most-viewed gaming showcases, trailing only two major Nintendo Direct presentations (with Nintendo's Switch 2 reveal leading by a significant margin).

As noted by Push Square, while historic for State of Play, Sony's PS5 reveal remains its all-time viewership champion with 44 million views. The Horizon Forbidden West and Horizon Forbidden Dawn streams also performed exceptionally, attracting 15 and 10 million viewers respectively.

The showcase highlighted third-party collaborations, particularly with Japanese studios like Capcom, Grasshopper Manufacture, Konami, ArtPlay, Square Enix, and Team Ninja, while featuring noticeably fewer first-party reveals.

This year's presentation clearly targeted core gamers, with numerous action-oriented titles likely destined for mature ratings.
