Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse Star Hasn't Recorded His Lines Yet

Jharrel Jerome, star of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, has confirmed that production on the highly anticipated third installment, Beyond the Spider-Verse, hasn't even begun. He revealed in an interview with Decider that he hasn't yet recorded any lines, and that several aspects of the film are still "being figured out."

This news shouldn't come as a complete surprise, considering the five-year gap between the first and second films.

"No, I wish," Jerome responded when asked about the commencement of production. "We haven’t started up yet. A lot of things are being figured out, but good things."

53 ImagesWhile Jerome's role in the second film was relatively small, his character is poised to become a central antagonist in the third. Spoiler alert for Across the Spider-Verse's ending: He portrays Miles G. Morales from Earth-42, who emerges not as Spider-Man, but as the Prowler.

In this alternate reality, the radioactive spider bite intended for Miles instead bit Peter Parker. Consequently, Miles didn't become Spider-Man, and following the death of his universe's Peter Parker, New York fell under the control of supervillains, with Miles ultimately joining their ranks.

The narrative of how this version of Miles clashes with the main protagonist's journey will likely be the focus of Beyond the Spider-Verse. However, fans should prepare for a considerable wait, with Deadline suggesting a 2026 release at the earliest, or potentially as late as 2028 if the previous film's release schedule is followed.
