Hazelight Games has announced that its latest co-op adventure, Split Fiction, has continued its remarkable launch trajectory, selling an impressive 2 million copies in just one week. Launched on March 6 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S, the game has quickly cemented its status as another triumph for the studio. Hazelight expressed their gratitude on social media, stating they are "blown away" by the support from both new and returning fans.

The studio previously shared that Split Fiction reached a milestone of 1 million copies sold within the first 48 hours of its release, indicating that an additional million copies were sold in the subsequent five days. This rapid sales growth highlights the strong appeal of the game's dual-protagonist narrative featuring Mio and Zoe's sci-fi adventure.

As a co-op game, Split Fiction likely has engaged a player base significantly larger than the number of copies sold, thanks to its innovative Friend's Pass feature. This feature enables one player to purchase the game and invite a friend to play at no extra cost, potentially doubling the actual number of players enjoying the experience. With the game continuing to generate buzz on social media, the 2 million sales figure is expected to grow even further.

Hazelight's previous release, 2021 Game of the Year winner It Takes Two, followed a similar path to success. It sold around 1 million copies shortly after its launch in March 2021, eventually reaching 10 million copies by February 2023 and an astounding 20 million by October 2024.

In IGN's Split Fiction review, the game was praised as "an expertly crafted co-op adventure that pinballs from one genre extreme to another," underscoring its innovative and dynamic gameplay experience.
