Oscar Isaac's Star Wars Celebration 2025 Appearance Fuels Poe Dameron Return Speculation

Sequel Trilogy star Oscar Isaac's confirmed appearance at Star Wars Celebration 2025 in Tokyo (April 18-20) has ignited fervent speculation about a potential return of his character, Poe Dameron. The announcement, made via the official Star Wars Celebration Instagram, follows Daisy Ridley's 2023 Celebration appearance and subsequent confirmation for a new Star Wars film. This parallel has fans hoping for similar news regarding Isaac.

While the Sequel Trilogy concluded in 2019 with The Rise of Skywalker, Isaac's stance on returning to the franchise has evolved. Initially expressing reluctance (only returning for "another house or something" in 2020), he later expressed openness to future projects in 2022, telling Variety he had "no real feeling one way or another."

Isaac's past criticisms of Disney, including their rejection of his proposed Poe/Finn romance, haven't dampened the enthusiasm. Similarly, John Boyega, who also voiced past frustrations, has indicated openness to future roles.

This fuels speculation about a reunion of the Sequel Trilogy's main trio – Rey, Finn, and Poe – in the upcoming Rey-centric film. Set approximately 15 years after The Rise of Skywalker, the film focuses on Rey's efforts to rebuild the Jedi Order. Ridley has already expressed her desire for Boyega's return, making Poe's inclusion a logical next step.

However, definitive answers may remain elusive for some time. Disney's repeated delays of various announced Star Wars projects have pushed back the earliest potential release date for the Rey film (directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy) to December 17, 2027. While Star Wars Celebration 2025 might offer clues, fans face a considerable wait for concrete information.
