Star Wars Game Unveils New Character

Aspyr's upcoming release of Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles for modern consoles features a surprising addition to the roster: the playable character Jar Jar Binks. A new trailer showcases Binks wielding a staff in chaotic combat.

This isn't the only new addition to the classic 2000 release. Aspyr is enhancing the game with features like customizable lightsaber colors and cheat code support, alongside a significant expansion of playable characters. Beyond the initially surprising inclusion of Jar Jar, nine other new characters have been revealed, with more promised.

The newly revealed characters offer a diverse range, including the Rodian, Flame Droid, Gungan Guard, Destroyer Droid, Ishi Tib, Rifle Droid, Staff Tusken Raider, Weequay, and Mercenary. This expands upon the already impressive original lineup.

Jar Jar Binks' inclusion, while unexpected, is consistent with Aspyr's commitment to expanding the game's content. His gameplay features his signature clumsy style and humorous voice lines, though he forgoes the fan-favorite "Darth Jar Jar" lightsaber for a more traditional staff.

The updated Jedi Power Battles launches January 23rd, allowing players to experience these new additions firsthand. Pre-orders are currently available. Aspyr aims to build upon the success of previous franchise updates, like Star Wars: Bounty Hunter, to deliver a truly satisfying and nostalgic experience for fans.
