New Star Wars Turn-Based Tactics Game to Be Revealed at Star Wars Celebration 2025
EA's eagerly awaited Star Wars turn-based tactics game is set to make its grand reveal at the Star Wars Celebration 2025. Announced back in early 2022, this untitled strategy game is being crafted by Bit Reactor, a studio filled with seasoned developers from Firaxis Games, renowned for their work on the acclaimed XCOM series. Bit Reactor has been collaborating closely with Respawn Entertainment, the minds behind the Star Wars Jedi series, and they're now ready to unveil their creation to the world.
Mark your calendars for April 19, when the first glimpse of the game will be presented during a live panel. This event will feature key members from Bit Reactor, Respawn Entertainment, and Lucasfilm Games, as detailed on the official Star Wars Celebration 2025 schedule. While details about the game's setting and gameplay mechanics remain under wraps, the involvement of XCOM veterans suggests a thrilling strategy experience deeply immersed in the Star Wars universe.
Respawn Entertainment, while busy with this project, continues to develop the third installment in their Star Wars Jedi trilogy, though it won't be featured at this year's Celebration. Previously, Respawn was working on another Star Wars game, an untitled first-person shooter rumored to spotlight a Mandalorian protagonist. Unfortunately, this project was canceled amid a significant restructuring at EA, which resulted in the loss of around 670 jobs. In a separate move, Respawn also canceled a multiplayer first-person shooter project earlier in March, affecting an undisclosed number of team members.
Beyond the gaming announcements, Star Wars Celebration promises more excitement with Lucasfilm offering a sneak peek at the upcoming movie, The Mandalorian & Grogu, slated for release in May 2026, alongside a first look at Star Wars: Visions Volume 3.
