StarCraft Mini-Set for Hearthstone: Details and Release Date Revealed
Hearthstone enthusiasts, get ready for an epic crossover with the launch of the Heroes of StarCraft Mini-Set on January 21. This Mini-Set, the largest in Hearthstone's history, introduces a whopping 49 new cards, blending the worlds of Hearthstone and Blizzard's beloved StarCraft universe. Announced during the Warcraft Direct on November 13, 2024, this expansion promises to bring a fresh wave of excitement to The Great Dark Beyond set.
The Heroes of StarCraft Mini-Set is packed with diverse offerings, including class-specific cards and multi-class StarCraft faction cards. Each Hearthstone class will receive three new cards, while the three StarCraft factions—Zerg, Protoss, and Terran—will each contribute five cards, one of which is a Legendary. Additionally, a unique neutral Legendary card, Grunty, rounds out the set. Hearthstone has already teased some of these cards, with more reveals scheduled in the week leading up to the launch.
The Zerg cards, available to Death Knight, Demon Hunter, Hunter, and Warlock, emphasize summoning numerous Zerglings and leveraging the Hydralisk for damage based on swarm size. Meanwhile, the Protoss cards for Druid, Mage, Priest, and Rogue focus on mana manipulation, enabling players to deploy powerful cards like the Carrier more efficiently. The Paladin, Shaman, and Warrior classes will benefit from new Starship mechanics, including Starship Pieces and a special Mech-themed Starship.
While the larger size of the Heroes of StarCraft Mini-Set comes with a higher price tag, it offers great value for players. You can acquire a full set of these cards for $20 or 2500 gold, or opt for the all-Golden version at $80 or 12,000 gold. Alternatively, faction-specific packs for Protoss, Terran, or Zerg are available for $10 or 1200 gold, allowing you to tailor your collection to your preferred playstyle.
To celebrate the Mini-Set's release, Hearthstone is hosting two exciting streamed events. StarCast, on January 23 at 10 AM PST, will feature StarCraft legends TrumpSC and Day9 showcasing the new cards. Following that, HearthCraft on January 24 at 9 AM PST will see Hearthstone community creators representing each faction in competitive matches and mini-games. By tuning into these events on Twitch, fans can earn two normal and two Golden The Great Dark Beyond packs, so be sure to mark your calendars and not miss out on these free rewards.
