Starfield PS5 Release Hinted by PlayStation Logo in Creation

Speculation that Starfield might soon be confirmed for release on PlayStation 5 has intensified following the spotting of a PlayStation logo on Bethesda's official Creations website. The logo was briefly seen on a work-in-progress ship decals Creation for Starfield, fueling rumors that the game, which has been exclusive to PC and Xbox, could be making its way to PS5.

They have added the Playstation logo to a creation. (I think they are beta testers, the logo only appears on one creation)

The discovery has led fans to speculate about potential new content updates or expansions that might coincide with a PS5 release. After the lukewarm reception to the Shattered Space expansion, Bethesda has been relatively quiet about Starfield. However, Microsoft, Bethesda's parent company, is expected to host a summer showcase, which could be the perfect platform to announce further details about Starfield.

Bethesda has teased "exciting things" planned for Starfield this year, amidst growing player discontent over communication and updates. In June 2024, Bethesda reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Starfield, promising at least one more story expansion following Shattered Space. In an interview with the YouTube channel MrMattyPlays, Bethesda Game Studios' Todd Howard expressed the studio's goal to release an annual story expansion for Starfield for the foreseeable future.

Starfield launched in September 2023 as Bethesda's first new intellectual property in years and its first mainline single-player game since Microsoft's acquisition of ZeniMax Media in March 2021. IGN's review of Starfield gave it a 7/10, praising its expansive roleplaying quests and solid combat mechanics.

In January, Microsoft's gaming chief, Phil Spencer, hinted at the possibility of Starfield coming to PS5. Reports from March 2024 suggested that both Starfield and MachineGames' Indiana Jones and the Great Circle were being considered for PS5. While Indiana Jones has been confirmed for a PS5 release in spring 2025, Starfield remains unconfirmed, though Spencer's comments suggest it's a strong possibility.

Several Xbox titles are already available on PS5, including Sea of Thieves, Hi-Fi Rush, Grounded, and Pentiment. Microsoft also publishes Minecraft on PlayStation and plans to release Doom: The Dark Ages and Ninja Gaiden 4 on PS5 later this year. Forza Horizon 5 is also slated for a PS5 release, and there are rumors that Halo might finally break its Xbox exclusivity.

Spencer has explained that Xbox's multiplatform strategy is partly driven by the need to increase revenue for Microsoft's gaming division, especially after the massive $69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard.

“We run a business,” Spencer stated last August. “It’s definitely true inside of Microsoft the bar is high for us in terms of the delivery we have to give back to the company. Because we get a level of support from the company that’s just amazing and what we’re able to go do.

“So I look at this, how can we make our games as strong as possible? Our platform continues to grow, on console, on PC, and on cloud. It’s just going to be a strategy that works for us.”

Bethesda Game Studios, with its 450 employees, is currently juggling multiple projects, including Starfield, Elder Scrolls 6, Fallout 76, mobile games, and external development partnerships.
