New Steam Game With Very Positive Reviews Has Strong Stardew Valley Vibes
Everafter Falls is a new farming simulator on Steam that may be the perfect title for fans of Stardew Valley. Developed by SquareHusky and published by Akupara Games, this Steam title currently boasts a Very Positive overall rating on the platform.
Ever since Stardew Valley exploded in popularity following its release in 2016, the farming simulator genre has continued to thrive. Dozens of farming sims seem to hit the market every year, and some of them, like Everafter Falls, manage to stand by combining traditional farming sim elements with more innovative ideas.
Everafter Falls mixes classic farming simulator activities such as farming, fishing, and foraging for items with RPG elements that include fighting enemies and exploring dungeons. In the game, the protagonist wakes up and discovers that what they thought was their previous life was only a simulation. They then start a journey to discover the real world, spending time with their pet and forgotten friends while slowly bringing their little farm to prominence. Everafter Falls seems to strike the perfect balance between the cozy experience expected from the farming sim genre and more odd twists that make for a fresh experience.
Everafter Falls Is A Cute Stardew Valley-Like Steam Game With A Sci-Fi Twist
Despite the sci-fi story twist, what stands out even more in Everafter Falls are the mechanics. When playing this Stardew Valley-inspired game, gamers are likely to notice how drones and magical animals enhance the core gameplay loop. Not only is it possible to automate some tasks, such as watering plants or using drones to help in fights, but there is a teleporting cat that allows the player to move around more efficiently. The game also has a unique progression system in which the player eats cards to level up. Apart from the current content, the developer behind Everafter Falls has already promised updates coming soon, including some quality-of-life changes, an easier Fishing mini-game, and some balancing tweaks.
2024 has been a good year for the farming simulator genre. One of the most eagerly awaited releases of the year is Mirthwood, expected to be released in Q3 2024. Mirthwood mixes up Stardew Valley and fantasy, and already has over 100,00 wishlists on Steam. The game is said to feature major farming aspects, but also has a greater emphasis on exploration and combat, promising to be darker than most farming sims on the market.
