"Stellar Blade Sequel Confirmed by Developer"

May 26,25

Stellar Blade is set to receive a full sequel, as confirmed by its developer, Shift Up. The PlayStation-published action game, which debuted in April 2024, received positive feedback from players who noted its gameplay as a blend of elements from NieR: Automata and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.

Shift Up, a Korean company, announced the sequel through a chart outlining its future projects, which was part of their latest financial results released today. According to a presentation slide, the Stellar Blade sequel is slated to be among the next releases before 2027.

Prior to the sequel's launch, Stellar Blade is expected to undergo a "platform expansion," which likely refers to its upcoming PC version, scheduled for release on June 11, 2025.

During this development period, Shift Up will also introduce Project Witches, a new multiplatform action RPG that remains largely under wraps.

Earlier this week, Shift Up mentioned it was "closely discussing" a PC region lock issue with Sony that had affected the game's store page on Steam, blocking access in over 100 countries.

In IGN's review of Stellar Blade, the game was described as "a gorgeous and well-crafted action game with very impressive strengths and very clear weaknesses." While the story and characters were critiqued for lacking depth, and some RPG elements such as sidequests were seen as poorly implemented and repetitive, the game's combat system was praised for its solid foundation inspired by Sekiro, offering a variety of challenging enemies and rewarding exploration.
