Stellar Blade Smashes Records, PC Sales Poised to Surpass PS5

Feb 23,25

Shift Up, the developer behind Stellar Blade, has announced a record-breaking year, with Stellar Blade generating $43 million in royalties. The PC version is projected to surpass the PlayStation 5 sales figures.

Game World Observer reports that Shift Up's 2024 financial report shows a 30.4% year-over-year revenue increase, reaching $151.4 million. A significant portion, $43.2 million, stems directly from Stellar Blade royalties.

The company anticipates continued success, predicting stronger PC sales than the console version, particularly within the Asian gaming market. While a Stellar Blade sequel remains under consideration, Shift Up will unveil its new title, Project Witches, in the first half of 2025.

Project Witches was initially announced in 2024, shortly after Stellar Blade's PS5 launch, preempting significant demand for a direct sequel.

Stellar Blade, a fast-paced action RPG, casts players as Eve, fighting unknown invaders to liberate Earth. While receiving a 7/10 rating from IGN and achieving over a million sales, the game's critical reception noted underdeveloped characters, a weak narrative, and frustrating RPG mechanics as shortcomings. Our review summarized it as "excellent in key action game aspects, but hampered by dull characters, a lackluster story, and several frustrating RPG mechanics."
